Manchester United are ready to end talks to sign Frenkie de Jong after Barcelona demanded a fee of £73 million for the Dutchman. 

The Red Devils have yet to make an impression this late spring, preferring to focus their efforts on handling the Netherlands on a global scale.

United knew an arrangement for De Jong wouldn't be clear, and they felt Barcelona's monetary challenges would bring about an understanding as soon as possible. 

However, the Catalans have rejected one offer in the region of £52 million for the previous Ajax man and are instead hoping for £73 million, which is what they paid for De Jong a while back.

Barcelona demand their options are limited as a result of La Liga guidelines that specify that they can reinvest 33% of the cash they get from deals, and that implies they should extricate a huge expense for De Jong.
